Occupy Sonnets, 06-10 [2011]

roaches

lackey heads (and we)     knocking the time front line
self included)     complacent and too damned just
these days)     this bubbling cauldron is erupting
it's almost time that we manifest our "hearing"
then stifle no matter what the situation
(solidarity of diarrhea and tears)

roaches     this really is quite a civil war
but occupy Wall Street     we simply cannot
see it through their dotted human microphone eyes
it's about time and now     that we as the bench
address ourselves as forever     the dreaded
United States of)     (call yourself to leave love

atheist) deny your C-H-A-N-G-E
see that we are all     (greedy motherfuckers

scores

want equally    protected rights and upon
future of wealth cannot be a priority
better)     and that no true democracy is
from every (clash) payroll check     we come to you
retired     determined by economics
(a grandson is welfare to multinationals)

derive just power from     the people have heard
that support their football teams and democracy
cruel corporations do not     (tomorrow
scores peaceably assembled     as is the right
and being forced to call out     politicians
loyal to Wall Street     oil and fraudulent tea

no matter the stifling smokescreen of rhetoric
we are the 99%     (deductions

❊     ❊     ❊     ❊     ❊

stances

there are no jobs and few     revolt with the choice
I ask     (and I just discovered callouses)
in a cooperating community of
peoples)     the little that we have already
envisioned     massive general assemblies
there must be equity in sacrifice working

mine is unsatisfied     (I am sorry for that
we choose to collect under the umbrella of
one of the cabinets turning     compromise
quick stances you have taken     (a red question
about the size of a pocket bible     all
to uninsured volunteers     the foundation

blue hands are cold     frozen to avoid leaving
they built a village in three days     (above ground

❊     ❊     ❊     ❊     ❊

chanters

digging without communicating     a tired
dialogue underground     signs become slogans
BANKS GOT BAILED OUT (police forces) WE GOT SOLD OUT
someone is gratified     the freeway is numb
and there)     SHOW ME WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE
a seat wants to be clear as a license setting

you might feel     WE ARE THE 99%
meanwhile     the lonely percentile is barely
to be taxed their fair share     (who has so much less
blackout     THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE
moved)     taste one of the clearest injustices
OFF THE SIDEWALK INTO THE STREET     (tear gas stings

in this country     chanters got poor and thinner
sleep in your blood     END THE WAR AND TAX THE RICH

❊     ❊     ❊     ❊     ❊

snatchers

the sidewalks we passed     I never used to see
considering that it went well)     in the dark
and the crowd around them would shout back     cracking
(the kingdom is regarded)     an exception
cautious     snatchers took more than helpless children
the people cheered the crawling     demonstrations

DEMOCRACY NOW     (and out through the back door
this will solve the problem of not being someone
take this slogan     remember this tense moment
(an idiot crashes and hides)     liberty
I remember being     influenced by greed
even in restaurants and cars     insisting

and being called an arrow is an example
looking to the sidelines     taking instruction
